Through counseling services, wellness education, and campus outreach, Rose-Hulman supports student mental health and well-being—earning recognition as one of 76 colleges nationwide in The Princeton Review’s Mental Health Services Honor Roll for 2027.

TERRE HAUTE, IN, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has been named to The Princeton Review’s Mental Health Services Honor Roll for 2027, recognizing the college’s comprehensive approach to supporting student mental health and well-being.

Rose-Hulman is one of only 76 colleges and universities nationwide, and one of only three in Indiana, to earn the distinction. The honor roll recognizes institutions demonstrating exceptional dedication to their students’ mental health through counseling services, wellness education, and coordinated campus support.

The recognition is part of an annual initiative conducted by The Princeton Review in partnership with the Ruderman Family Foundation to improve mental health resources and increase awareness of services available to college students. Selections were based on information submitted through the company’s 2026 Campus Mental Health Survey, which gathered responses from administrators at 739 colleges and universities.

“Supporting our students’ mental health is an institutional priority and an essential part of helping them succeed at Rose-Hulman and beyond,” said Rose-Hulman President Robert A. Coons. “Our role in founding MINDful College Connections and joining the JED Campus network reflects a sustained commitment to strengthening that support. We are investing in partnerships, people, and resources that help students navigate challenges, build connections, and feel confident seeking help.”

Rose-Hulman is a founding member of MINDful College Connections, a shared-resource consortium established in 2022 with support from Lilly Endowment Inc. Founding partners DePauw University, Rose-Hulman, and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College have since been joined by Butler University. The consortium expands access to mental health staff, services, and educational resources while allowing each institution to respond to its students’ needs.

In 2025, Rose-Hulman also joined The Jed Foundation’s JED Campus network, which helps colleges and universities strengthen mental health support and prevent suicide and substance misuse through measurable, evidence-supported action steps.

Rose-Hulman’s Student Counseling Center has five full-time clinicians and offers short-term individual, couples, and group counseling. The college has also expanded support through tele-mental health services. Counseling staff help students identify barriers to success, develop coping skills, and connect with off-campus providers when their needs require specialized or longer-term care.

“Today’s students bring a wide range of experiences and needs to campus, and our Student Counseling Center works continually to make support accessible, approachable, and responsive,” said Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Erik Hayes. “Through counseling, expanded tele-mental health services, peer support, and outreach, our staff help students find resources that fit their circumstances. We want students to know the people who can help them and to feel comfortable reaching out before challenges become overwhelming.”

That work extends across campus through more than 100 mental health outreach events, including a Student Wellness Fair, peer education activities, suicide prevention programming, and regular opportunities for stress relief and social connection. Counseling staff introduce services during new student orientation and collaborate with campus partners to support students throughout their college experience.

The Student Counseling Center also employs a mental health and wellness educator who oversees five student peer educators. Together, they help promote mental health resources and support outreach events across campus, and encourage students to build connections, prioritize their well-being, and seek support when needed.

Student surveys and mental health screenings also help Rose-Hulman understand emerging needs and connect students with appropriate care, reinforcing a coordinated approach to student well-being.
